Footer Brewery Still Without Firm Opening Date

May 30th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Having missed a number of projected start-up dates in the past year- the owner of Dig Deep Brewery has been understandably reluctant to make any new announcements- and at this point it has become a waiting game for everyone involved. In an interview in February Brewery owner/operator  Robert Dettinburn told WCBC News that the installation of equipment  had essentially been completed and just a few more details needed to be ironed out before  the city's latest craft beer brewery would be ready to operate in the Footer's Dye Works Building. The plan is for the pub and eatery will be on the first floor of the historic building at Canal Place. At that time the goal had been to open in mid to late March. That goal- like the others- came and went.  During this week’s meeting of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority- executive director Dee Dee Ritchie said that neither the board- or Footer developer Michael Joy have been given a firm opening date…

    Another unlucky delay.
The upcoming CASA wine and craft beer fest would have been the perfect place to show off his wares. Unfortunately that will be vaporware.

If this was not happening here, this would be funny. Oh well, how did it take the Korean restaurant to open up on Center St.? I think the brewery has it beat.

While I’m not sure of the reasons the brewery is not open yet the local community should still be supportive of any type of new business who wants to open in the area, its risky and challenging to say the least.
I’m sure the owners are doing their best and I can’t image the stress and financial burden this is putting on them. Instead of making assumptions and being negative we all need to support them and show some respect….We would all want the same if it was one of us in their shoes.
