Group Continues Opposition To Proposed Wind Project On Dan’s Mountain

January 7th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

As 2020 begins, the ANCHOR group is continuing its opposition to the proposed wind project atop Dan’s Mountain.

Another public informational session sponsored by the group will be held this evening at 6:30 at City Place, in Frostburg, at 14 South Water Street.

In November, a similar session drew a crowd of 150 to Bel Air Elementary School.  ANCHOR’s Jen Shaw told that crowd that it will take a continuous public effort to stop the project…

ANCHOR has my support. These massive metal giants have a larger carbon footprint than they save. Commissioners are being short sighted and despite taking the cash from the windmills for the county funding needs when our housing values will decline 30-20%. The commissioners acceptance of campaign funds from the wind turbine companies is highly suspicious. I’ve been boycotting Caporale’s Bakery and restaurants that use Caporale products. Caporale doen’t represent this citizen.

They kill birds, look horrible and solve nothing. They break down and cost a fortune to repair and because of this many are never repaired. They’re just left to rot in place.

Bill Brauch, The thought that elected leaders take case is suspicious to you? Sorry sir, it’s endemic among the elected elite from city councils to US Senators. And what good is boycotting a bakery and restaurant going to do to prevent a windmill? Your efforts only impact those who work for a living at those places of business.

I just want to know… what WOULD be the best form of alternative fuel? It seems every single one has a major negative. Is there no way out?

This statement is incredibly damning. As this was something I had not heard previously, it seemed a good idea to learn more on the subject.

Fact check provides the following commentary, “To be more exact, wind energy produces around 11 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated, Garvin A. Heath, a senior scientist at NREL, and colleagues concluded after reviewing the scientific literature. That’s compared with about 980 g CO2/kWh for coal and roughly 465 g CO2/kWh for natural gas, Heath found.

In other words, coal’s carbon footprint is almost 90 times larger than that of wind. The footprint of natural gas is more than 40 times larger.”

In other words, Bill, you’ve been lied to and you might want to find better, more reliable, sources for your information.
