The ACPS needs to stay the course and keep our students safe with virtual learning. People are dying from COVID and there still isn’t enough testing. We now know that young kids who test positive will have effects later in life. Masks, social distancing on buses, restrooms and hallways? Try sticking a cloud in a suitcase instead. Kids won’t stay off their cellphones and yet they are going to wear a mask. WMHS better get more ventilators for parents and grandparents who will be infected by kids who bring it back home. The safety of our kids, parents, grandparents, teachers and staff must be the first priority. Flu season during the worst pandemic in over a century with our kids put in congregate settings. Contact tracing, closing schools after a person tests positive, teaching kids while making sure they keep them on. Opening schools during this pandemic FLU season is going to make a lot of people in need of a ventilator. Imagine a Dairy Queen in every school several times a week.

There is no way I am sending my 4 grandchildren, who I
raise back to school. I used to trust Hogan-no more. I have seen first hand the terror of losing a loved one to COVID. No way. No more. One goodbye on an iPad is enough for me!

I really don’t like being the voice of doom and gloom but this move is ill advised at best, at worst it’s just going to be spreading the virus to many that didn’t have it before now.
I can only assume that Hogan is not reading the reports from other areas where the schools have already opened back up.

I’ve thought Hogan has been handling COVID-19 well but wondering when the pressure would cause him to cave. I guess we now have the answer.

Another article reports 11 new cases at FSU and it is just August.

My children will not be returning to the classroom until I can get a guarantee of their safety. The circumstances are no different now than when they closed schools. There is no vaccine or proven effective treatment for this virus. How are we supposed to feel like it’s ok now?

More kids die from swimming pools than Covid. But we cannot return to school until every single person in the world is Covid free
