The first case of a new and potentially more infectious strain of Covid-19 has been confirmed in the United States. A second case has been identified as well, both in Colorado. Officials said it was unlikely that the cases detected in Colorado are the first cases of the new variant in the U.S. Researchers believe current COVID-19 vaccines will likely protect against the new variant, but more data is needed.
