Increase In Heroin/Opioid Overdose Deaths In Maryland

Maryland Sixth District Congressman John Delaney has conducted a series of heroin and opioid workshops across the state this past summer to speak to constituents and provide education through a panel of experts about what he calls one of the biggest issues facing the nation. Fatal drug overdoses in Maryland are continuing to climb at an alarming rate. The state health department in August released the number of deadly overdoses in Maryland for the first quarter of this year. The figures show that, from January through March, there were 550 overdose-related deaths in the state. That’s a 37 percent increase over the 401 overdose-related deaths in the same period last year…
