Longtime radio voice of the Washington Redskins retires

July 16th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Larry Michael, the lead play-by-play announcer on radio broadcasts of Washington’s NFL team the last 16 seasons, announced his retirement Wednesday. Michael, who started working on the team’s broadcasts as a pregame and postgame host, eventually joined the club’s front office, serving as its chief content officer and a senior vice president overseeing its video content and television shows.

“After 16 great years my time with the organization is over," Michael said in a statement. "As of today I’ll be retiring from my position with the team. As a lifelong Washingtonian I was blessed to work with a lot of great people. I want to thank everyone who contributed over the years. I’m especially grateful to [team owner] Dan Snyder for giving me the opportunity. On to the next chapter.”

The team declined to comment about Michael’s retirement.

The Washington Post is said to be prepping a story documenting in ‘sick detail’ how Snyder, Gruden and other Redskin high ups ‘pimped and abused cheerleaders’ to high dollar stake holders and ticket buyers. Could come as early as today . . . Stay tuned. There appears to be an iceberg.

I wondered if it might have something to do with some sort of sexual abuse.

        > There has been wild speculation – but I am confident the Post will clear it up whenever the story hits. Some have hinted that it does, others have said Snyder may be forced to sell the team, but nothing on record or definitive.
