Man Convicted of Frostburg Armed Robbery

September 16th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced on Monday, September 16, 2019, that Marcus Logan Vaughn, 33 of Cumberland, was convicted, following a four day jury trial, in the Allegany County Circuit Court of Home Invasion, Burglary First Degree, Armed Robbery, Assault First Degree and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony related to an incident on December 30, 2018 in Frostburg.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., on December 30, 2018, members of the Frostburg City Police Department and Frostburg State University Campus Police responded to a private residence located on South Grant Street for a reported armed robbery.  Upon their arrival, officers observed one of the victims to be bleeding heavily from his head.  That victim was later transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.  Allegany County’s Combined Criminal Investigative Unit (C3I) was contacted to assist and through that investigation, it was learned that three masked individuals, one identified as Vaughn, had entered the residence with guns demanding cash, cell phones, keys and other property.  During the incident, several victims were assaulted before Vaughn and the others fled the scene in a white vehicle.  Subsequent investigation also revealed that a total of five individuals were involved, all of which have been charged in connection with this incident.

Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey S. Getty presided over the trial and ordered that Vaughn be remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center pending a pre-sentence investigation.  Sentencing will be held on a later date.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Karen Detrick and Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel Lane.  Vaughn was represented by David Schram and Elizabeth Lamm of the Public Defender’s Office.

I very much agree that crime spreading to our area from the bigger cities is a serious problem, using racial slurs won’t solve anything. It only makes folks from our area seem undesirable. Just like the criminals we are complaining about. Ignorance never solves anything. Shame on you for allowing this the be published on your page.

I’ve noticed the most commented on arrests are those that are black. very few comments on those who aren’t, and there are plenty to choose from.
