Maryland Health Dept Updates Nursing Facilities Vaccination List

October 4th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced an update on the top 10 and bottom 10 skilled nursing facilities in the state ranked by percentage of staff with at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 and highly contagious variants. MDH also announced an update on skilled nursing facilities that did not submit adequate staff COVID-19 vaccination data as required by the state.

Per vaccination protocols in effect since September 1, 2021, all nursing facility staff are required to have their first or single dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Nursing facilities that fail to comply with vaccination protocols or do not adequately report their vaccination data will be subject to increased fines, civil penalties, and enforcement actions.

Weekly, the Maryland Department of Aging publishes data on residents and staff vaccinated against COVID-19 at each of the skilled nursing facilities in the state on its Skilled Nursing Facilities Vaccination Dashboard.

“Nursing facilities not complying with safety protocols have all the tools necessary to vaccinate their residents and staff,” said MDH Secretary Dennis R. Schrader. “The 86 nursing facilities with 91 percent or more of their staff with one COVID-19 vaccine are shining examples and easy to emulate.”

“It is unacceptable that there are still nursing facilities in the state that are operating in a manner contrary to keeping our most vulnerable citizens safe from COVID-19,” said Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Rona E. Kramer. “We will continue to take and increase enforcement actions against these outliers.”
