Maryland Resident Being Tested For Coronavirus

January 28th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today reported that a Maryland resident met the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) criteria for testing for 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). This individual is in good condition and is being monitored while awaiting test results, to be reported by the CDC laboratory.

“The Maryland Department of Health is closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation with 2019 N-CoV, both in the U.S. and in China,” said MDH Deputy Secretary of Public Health Fran Phillips. “As we learn more, Marylanders are encouraged to practice everyday actions to promote good health and to protect yourself and your loved ones from respiratory viruses like the coronavirus — wash your hands thoroughly, cover your cough and avoid close contact with people who are sick. Stay home from work or school if you’re not feeling well.”

At this time Maryland continues to have no confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV.

Where does this individual live? Has this person been in China? Has this person been in any other state that has confirmed coronavirus cases? Why not tell us?

      > I heard on NPR this morning that this individual did recently arrive back in the States from a trip to a province in China. I’m sorry, I don’t remember the province’s name.
