Maryland Senate Approves Dog Bite Bill

March 2nd, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Senate has approved legislation that will hold dog owners liable for canine bites. However, according to WBAL News, the measure will also give owners a chance to rebut a presumption of liability in court. The bill is a compromise to address a ruling that found pitbulls to be an "inherently dangerous" breed in 2012. The Senate passed the bill 45-0 on Friday. The bill now goes to the vote of the Maryland House of Delegates.
