Masking Order To Take Effect Today

April 18th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

As of 7 a.m. Saturday, all Marylanders must wear a face covering while inside an essential business or aboard public transportation.

The directive made this week by Gov. Larry Hogan, like other orders made since he declared a state of emergency for COVID-19, carries the force of state law. Willful violations can carry up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Hogan's order followed moves by several Maryland jurisdictions, including Baltimore City. TThe order signed Wednesday by Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young advises residents to wear facial coverings in essential businesses and while interacting with delivery personnel, but also in other situations where social distancing may not be possible.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have advised Americans to wear non-medical cloth face coverings when out in public. They can be fashioned out of common household items, including old shirts and bandanas.

An earlier Hogan order bans all but essential travel. Marylanders are being asked to stay at home unless leaving for essential work or necessities such as food or medical care. It is OK to take a walk or to walk your dog as long as you don't otherwise violate an order barring gatherings of more than 10 people

Up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine for not wearing a face mask, or if you are already in jail, you should be realeased.

Is this to make room for face mask offenders?

THEIR GREAT AT TAKING OUR MONEY! When they prevent you from earning any!

Wow, I’m not sure what that barrage of lower case and all caps was about but apparently we should be wearing masks and he’s upset about something.

Glad Mr Fornwalt understands that anyone can make a home made mask. I don’t understand why he thinks the nanny state should provide them, especially since they are having trouble getting enough for our medical people.

Good luck Mr Fornwalt, stay safe.
