MDH Issues Nursing Facility Vaccine Report

October 18th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced an update on the top and bottom 10 skilled nursing facilities in the state ranked by percentage of staff with at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19. MDH also announced an update on skilled nursing facilities that did not submit adequate COVID-19 vaccination data as required by the state.

Per vaccination protocols in effect since September 1, 2021, all nursing facility staff are required to have their first or single dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Nursing facilities that fail to comply with vaccination protocols or do not adequately report their vaccination data are subject to fines, civil penalties, and enforcement actions.

As of today, 99 nursing facilities in the state have vaccinated 91 percent or more of their staff. A full list of the state’s nursing facilities and their vaccination data can be found on the Maryland Department of Aging’s Skilled Nursing Facilities Vaccination Dashboard, which is updated weekly.

“More than 88 percent of Maryland nursing home staff have received at least one dose of a life-saving COVID-19 vaccine,” said MDH Secretary Dennis R. Schrader. “By getting vaccinated, they have taken the most important step they can during this pandemic to protect both themselves and our elderly loved ones they care for everyday.”

“The vast majority of nursing facilities in the state are in full compliance with COVID-19 vaccination protocols put in place to keep residents and staff safe,” said Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Rona E. Kramer. “We are indebted to them and will continue to work with facilities that are not complying to help ensure that their residents and staff are also safe.”
