O’Malley Discusses His Legislation That Would Increase “Flush Tax”

For a second consecutive day, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley testified before a legislative committee on his legislation to increase taxes on septic systems and sewer bills, and to limit where new septic systems can be installed. The governor, on Wednesday, appeared before the House Environmental Matters Committee. O'Malley says increasing fees on water use and limiting where developers can put new septic systems are essential to preserving the health of the Chesapeake Bay. The Democratic governor spoke to the Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee Tuesday afternoon, advocating for change to the state's so-called "flush tax" that would charge residents and business based on how much water they use. …

    If the CITIZENS could somehow get more money then, the state government would not have to increase taxes.
