PACE Event just a week away

January 15th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland/Allegany County Industrial Foundation (CACIF) and the Garrett County Development Corporation host PACE, a signature event in the state capital.  Now celebrating 44 years of advancing Allegany and Garrett Counties, the PACE Reception is Thursday, January 23, and the PACE Breakfast is Friday, January 24, at the Graduate Annapolis Hotel.

The focus of PACE is to highlight Allegany and Garrett Counties to political leaders, legislators, government officials and other key decision makers in the beginning days of the Maryland General Assembly’s annual 90-day session. PACE offers a networking environment to focus on the strategic needs/projects in each of these two counties and to discuss the regional effect of key legislative topics for Mountain Maryland.

The success of Mountain Maryland PACE is dependent on the participation and support of local businesses, individuals, organizations, and other entities. PACE 2020 Co-Chairs, Allegany’s Jeremy Irons and Garrett’s Shawn Bender, are pleased to announce the sponsors and the exhibitors.

For 44 years the annual Pace reception has been highlighting Allegany County. What do we have here locally to show after that amount of time? The first reception was in 1976! What a do nothing waste of time and effort. I’m sure that everyone who attends at the Graduate Hotel will get a delicious meal and be well lubricated afterwords but how will that translate back here?
Oh, I’m so excited and can hardly wait to hear the results of the business owners and legislators night of schmoozing and imbibing.

PACE or no PACE the results of 44 years tells us they have done a piss poor job of promoting anything in Western Maryland except using public funds to fill their stomachs with exotic food and quenching their thirst at these events. Meanwhile Western Maryland has lost almost all of the big employment opportunities that once were the mainstay for so many of the local laborers here. Oh yes I know we have both of the prisons here and local jailhouse. That’s NOT a plus in my book. Oh please spared the piss poor excuses. Man up and admit it’s all been a failure. Amen
