Police handle assault incidents

On Thursday officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Fairview Avenue residence for a disturbance.  Upon the arrival of officers they discovered that an assault occurred prior to their arrival.  The victim had injuries that were visible to officers. Officers were also able to review video surveillance that showed the assault.  Officers contacted the suspect identified as Amy Lynn Martin in an upstairs bedroom.  Martin was taken into custody without incident. Martin was later taken before a District Court Commissioner where she was held on a $5,000.00 bond

Officers served an arrest warrant on Nathaniel Edward Hynson on Virginia Avenue after he was contacted on an unrelated matter.  Hynson was wanted in connection with burglary that occurred earlier in the month.  During a search of Hynson’s person he was found to be in possession of a weapon.  Hynson was arrested on the warrant and also charged with possession of the dangerous weapon.  Hynson was later taken before the District Court Commissioner and held on an $8,000.00 bond.
