Police make multiple burglary arrests

On Friday, the Cumberland City Police arrested Michael Thomas Shipley Jr, Age 32, of Cumberland MD. Shipley was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant from an incident that occurred on September 5th, 2019, in the 300 block of Cecelia St. During that incident, it is alleged that Shipley entered the home of the victim without permission and stole the victim’s dog. Shipley was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. Shipley is currently being held without bail.

Charges:  1st Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary-Theft, 4th Degree Burglary-Dwelling, Theft $100-$1500,

     Trespassing-Private Property x2, Trespassing-Posted Property

 

 

***Adult Arrest***

 On Friday, September 6th, 2019, The Cumberland City Police arrested Julio Mark Nelson, Age 38, of Cumberland MD. Nelson was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant from an incident that occurred on August 28th, 2019, in the 100 block of Spruce St. During that incident, The Cumberland Police responded to the residence for the report of a breaking and entering. The victim advised that they heard a subject on their front porch attempting to gain entry into the home. The victim advised they observed an arm coming through a broken window, attempting to unlock the front door of the home. The victim was able to startle the suspect, who then fled the area on foot. Nelson was able to be identified as the suspect through security camera footage of a nearby business. Nelson was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. Nelson is currently being held on $5,000 bond.
