Police Make Robbery, Theft Arrest

On January 2nd, 2020, The Cumberland City Police arrested Marley Zaire Powell, age 26, of Cumberland MD. Powell was arrested on an active Arrest Warrant stemming from an incident that had occurred on December 19th, 2019. During that incident, Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of Virginia Ave in reference to a theft. Officers contacted a victim on scene who advised they had a large sum of cash stolen from their person while inside the business. After reviewing security cameras from inside the business, It was observed that Powell had ran into the victim and removed the envelope of cash from the victims pocket. Powell then removed items from the store and left without paying. As a result of the investigation, Powell was charged with Robbery, Theft $100-$1500, Theft Less than $100, and Second Degree Assault. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bail.

    34 arrests in 8 years of adulthood. WOW….
    Probably need to release him so he can continue to accumulate more!!
