Poll Finds Most Marylanders Unaware Of The Work Of The Kirwan Commission

A new poll finds most Marylanders are unaware of the work of the Kirwan Commission, whose suggestions for reforms for public schools and how to fund them are the focus of intense debate in this year's Maryland General Assembly session.  However, the Goucher College Poll finds that most Marylanders support the commission's recommendations, including higher teacher salaries and more vocational training for students. Goucher College political science professor Mileah Kromer tells WBAL that while the majority of those polled aren’t familiar with the Kirwan Commission- there is broad support for the commission’s proposed education initiatives.
