School Board extends Interim Superintendent Blank another year

May 20th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

By a unanimous vote Wednesday afternoon, the Allegany County Board of Education approved appointing Jeff Blank as interim Superintendent from July 1, 2020 through June 30th 2021. Blank has been serving in the interim capacity since last summer when David Cox left the position- but his contract was only through June of this year with the board beginning a search for a permanent superintendent. With the COVID-19 pandemic making it increasingly difficult to conduct a national search by the July 1 deadline, the board voted in special session to ask Blank to continue in the role beyond his current contract. All five board members thanked Blank for his service during a difficult time for the school system. The appointment is pending the approval of the state superintendent.
