School Board Members Options for Fall Semester

July 10th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

With no definitive back to school plan yet announced by the state- local board’s of education across Maryland are beginning to strategize on the best options for classes this fall. School systems in Baltimore and Frederick counties have already had discussions. On the table is a combination of in-person classes and remote learning. Other plans include opening schools with about 35% of the students on a rotation where students would be in the classroom one week out of every three. Another option is that schools would open with 50% capacity and would rotate students every other week. While the Allegany County Board of Education has had no formal planning meetings, board member Robert Farrell tells WCBC News that Superintendent Jeff Blank has been at work on developing a back to school programs working on a plan. Farrell’s personal preference is to see kids return to the classroom, even if in a limited capacity…

Board member Dr David Bohn said that while he understands that both students and parents want to know a schedule or plan as quickly as possible- the unpredictable nature of the Coronavirus and the state’s response simply wont’ allow for those decisions at this time…

The first mistake is letting Bob Farrell have anything to do with the reopening plan.

Welchy, has anybody ever threatened to cut your salary by 50% if you refused to go into a situation where you might get deathly sick and infect others including elderly people who are susceptible to hospitalization and death?

        > Returning to the classroom, at this time or anytime in the near future, is a recipe for disaster.
What responsible parent would expose his/her child to possible infection?
What responsible school board would expose all local children to possible infection?
        We shall see.

Our school age children need to be back in on time this year. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Covid19 is now a fear mongering hoax. The recent spike in cases are the result of extremely liberal methods of counting new cases. Newly hired contact tracers count not only a positive test result (many of which are false positives) and from 15-30 people the new positive person may have contacted. These are categorized as probable positive cases. Probable positive cases are defined as new cases by contract tracers. It would be comical if the effects of these ridiculous policies were not so debilitating on school age children: depression, suicidal ideation, social isolation and just meandering through their lives without any purpose. If you torture the data long enough, it will admit to anything! It’s time to go back to school. No other option is acceptable.

Kids need to be in the classroom with others. The camaraderie, competition, and human contact are essential for becoming a well-rounded person. Human contact makes learning fun, and easier. Please open the schools. Teachers can wear a mask and stay 6 feet from the students if they prefer.

This is absolutely asinine. The studies have clearly stated this virus RARELY affects children and that kids have a higher chance of being stroke by lightning then to fall fatally ill from the virus. This is very detrimental to children’s mental health. Maryland is now below 5 percent and deaths are plummeting which means it is just like the flu we survive and it’s a HIGHLY RECOVERABLE virus. OPEN THE SCHOOLS!

Welchy, 1.If you think that this virus Won’t affect kids then you are living in a bubble. 2. Are you willing to pay the lawsuit if one of the teachers with kids get the virus . 3. I take it that you are not a parent or teacher because if you was you would not want to sacrifice a teacher or student life. I believe we should leave it up to see authorities instead of us trying to make a decision for the authorities use your brains don’t sit on them
