There still may be an opportunity for the originally planned mega slots emporium at the Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort to come to fruition- if the developer is deemed eligible for a federal program that could provide some financing. Back in July, shortly after getting approved for a slots license at Rocky Gap- the Lakes Entertainment group abruptly announced a drastically revised plan, claiming that it could not get the financing needed for a planned $65 million addition to the lodge to house 850 slot machines. Instead, the group announced a scaled back plan that would put 500 machines in meeting space inside the current facility. State Senator George Edwards told local business and community leaders Tuesday that there is a program in place that could lead to financing for Lakes.
