Talks Progressing On Delfest Contract

February 21st, 2017 by WCBC Radio

More than two months after it appeared a new five year contract had been signed between DelFest and Allegany County- no deal has been finalized, but talks are progressing. The members of a seven-person commission, which will study the long-term needs for the DelFest bluegrass festival, met for the first time last week as efforts continue to move toward that new contract.   The Del Commission was created in large part due to the controversy that developed in December when it was e announced that a new five year contract had been signed- only to see some last minute concerns delay that process.  The 2016 DelFest was the last event under a previous contract between the parties. At this point, no contract exists for the event.  However, the 2017 festival will take place under the terms spelled out in the previous contract.  County Commissioner Bill Valentine met this past weekend with Ronnie McCoury as well as the McCoury's manager- Stan Strickland.  He tells WCBC News that while there is still no signed agreement in place, he sees no potential obstacles to a new deal being reached in the near future…
