As a result of the shortened school day for elementary schools during the hybrid learning model, Allegany County Public Schools, in cooperation with the City of Cumberland, have made temporary changes to the traffic patterns in front of two schools to better coincide with dismissal times. Mary Street in front of John Humbird Elementary School and Second Street in front of South Penn Elementary School have always been limited to one-way traffic twice a day to help with traffic flow during arrival and dismissal times. A change has been made to the signs posted at every intersection indicating one-way traffic on school days to reflect the new dismissal time of 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., the morning time will remain the same, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. For the safety of all, motorists are asked to please abide by this time change.
