Trone to meet with education leaders

February 21st, 2020 by WCBC Radio

This Monday, February 24th, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) will host a conversation with Maryland education leaders at the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in Frederick, Maryland at 6:00pm. The public is invited to attend.

This conversation comes a week after Congressman Trone received the endorsement from the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) and the National Education Association (NEA) for his re-election to represent Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District.

The conversation will feature leaders in education throughout the state of Maryland, including:

  • Dr. William 'Brit' Kirwan, Chancellor Emeritus of the University System of Maryland, Chair of the Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education
  • Cheryl Bost, President of the Maryland State Education Association
  • Karen Yoho, Member of the Frederick County Board of Education
  • Malachi Macon, Student Member of the Frederick County Board of Education

As the only member from the Maryland Delegation on the Education and Labor Committee, Trone has been a champion for Maryland students and educators while in Congress. He’s helped introduce bills to prioritize mental health in higher education, provide professional training for teachers, and invest in rebuilding America’s schools. This year, he introduced H.R. 5620, the TRUE EQUITY Act, which is designed to make the federal government a partner in implementing the recommendations of the Kirwin Commission.

People need to take a good look at this kirwin report and it’s recommendations and more importantly how much it’s projected to cost and most importantly how it’s to be funded. Wake up marylanders you are about to get a massive tax increase put on you if this passes.
