On 1/29/15 at 12:09pm, Cumberland Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of N. Mechanic Street for a traffic violation. During the stop, a police canine team responded and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and other drugs in the passenger compartment. Further, during the search officers discovered what appeared to be a mobile clandestine lab in the trunk of the vehicle. After determining that there was a possibility of a clandestine lab, officers secured the vehicle and summoned the Cumberland Fire Department, Allegany County Hazardous Material Team, and the Allegany County Clandestine Lab Team, as per protocol. The scene was then investigated by the specialist and it was determined that the vehicle did contain the components of a clandestine lab used to manufacture illegal drugs. The scene was made safe and the evidence seized by the Clandestine Lab Team.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Michael Brian Blair, age 35, of Lonaconing was arrested and charged with:
Possession of CDS with intent to distribute
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of CDS
Possession of CDS Paraphernalia
Also, the passenger, Meagan Lynn Robinette, was issued a Criminal Citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and released at the scene.
Following his arrest Michael Blair was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held on $5000.00 bail.
