Various Groups Recognized At BOE Business Meeting

It was a busy work session and business meeting for the Allegany County Board of Education Tuesday – including the recognition of the area’s schools of distinction by the Chamber of Commerce.  In addition the board recognized WAMBA Caravan #89, International Order of the Alhambra for their contributions to the Allegany County Public Schools’ SLE Programs and Unified Sports Programs; recognized Ms. Deborah Jackson (Fort Hill) and Ms. Tricia Emerick (Mountain Ridge) for achieving National Board Certification; and heard updates on the Broadband Project; Maryland Education Reform; Sexual Offenders Regulation; and Community Use of School Facilities Regulations. The real work for the board will begin in earnest next month when Superintendent David Cox presents his preliminary budget proposal for the board’s consideration…
