The Garrett County Health Department has confirmed a second case of Pertussis in less than a month, commonly known as whooping cough, in a 14-year-old resident of Garrett County. Health officials are working to identify and notify close contacts to prevent further illness spread. Residents, especially those in close contact with infants or young children, should review their vaccinations. The time from exposure to the onset of symptoms is typically 7 to 10 days.
