Another Millionaire Made in Cumberland Through Scratch-Off

March 18th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Lottery scratch-off tickets sold in District Heights, Cumberland and Silver Spring were responsible for life-changing prizes last week. But the potential for even bigger prizes awaits, as the surging jackpots in Mega Millions and Powerball fueled substantial wins in Charlotte Hall, Hyattsville and Easton.

The Lottery awarded the first of four $5 million top prizes on the $5,000,000 Cash scratch-off game on a ticket sold in District Heights. A $2,000,000 Gold Rush ticket gave a Cumberland resident the last of that game’s $2 million top prizes. And a $250,000 Cash Winfall ticket sold in Silver Spring paid a $250,000 top prize.

With the Powerball jackpot rolling to an estimated annuity value of $645 million prior to the March 18 drawing, there were a pair of $50,000 winning tickets sold last week in Charlotte Hall and Hyattsville. The Mega Millions jackpot for the March 19 drawing stands at an estimated annuity value of $875, which would make it the sixth-largest in the game’s history if there is a winner. A Mega Millions ticket worth $10,000 was sold last week in Easton.

In all, 34 Maryland Lottery tickets worth $10,000 or more were purchased or claimed in the week ending March 17, and players won prizes totaled more than $42.1 million in that span.
