Armed Robbery at Corriganville Dollar General

On Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at approximately 10:00 PM, a lone suspect entered the Dollar General Store on Mount Savage Road in Corriganville, Maryland and approached the two employees near the front counter. No customers were in the business at this time. The suspect produced a handgun and displayed it to the two employees.  The suspect then demanded that the employees remove money from the cash register.  The employees provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency from the cash register.  The suspect then escorted the employees to a room inside the business and told them to stay in the room.  The suspect then fled from the business on foot in an unknown direction.  After the suspect fled from the business the two employees called for police assistance.  

            The Allegany County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and assistance was provided by members of the Maryland State Police.   Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 5 also assisted during the investigation in an attempt to locate the suspect. 

            The suspect was described as a male, approximately 5-10 feet tall, and 200 to 250 pounds in weight. He was wearing gray sweat pants, gray and maroon sweat shirt, dark tennis shoes, white cloth material covering his face and a pair of sunglasses covering his eyes. 

            Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Video surveillance in the store was reviewed and photos of the suspect were obtained.

            The investigation is continuing by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department and C3I.
