On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jacob Haines.  The warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on January 2, 2026 at approximately 12:47 AM when police responded to the first block of Arch Street for an assault.  Officers contacted an alleged victim who reported that he was assaulted by Jacob Haines.  Police observed that the victim had sustained injuries.  Haines was no longer on the scene.  After further investigation, police filed for charges against Haines at the District Court of Allegany County.  Haines was arrested and seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  At the conclusion, Haines was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
