On Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Seth Ryan Michael, 28, of Burlington WV. Ryan was arrested on an active Arrest Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court for an incident that occurred on December 6th. During that incident, it is alleged that Michael had intentionally caused $2,000 in property damage to a nonprofit organization operated in the 600 block of N. Centre St.
Once in custody, Michael was temporarily held at Police Headquarters prior to being transported to the Central Booking Unit at the Allegany County Detention Center. As officers attempted to prepare Michael for transport, he began to pull away and attempt to escape from officers, which led to a brief physical struggle. During the struggle, Michael caused damage to property at Police Headquarters.
As a result, Michael was charged with escape 2nd degree, destruction of property, as well as resist/interfering with an arrest. He is currently being held on a temporary commitment at the Allegany County Detention Center.
