The Halt Fentanyl Act, co-sponsored by West Virginia Senator Shelly Moore-Capito was recently signed into law. It makes permanent the classification of fentanyl as a Schedule I Controlled Substance, the most restrictive drug category, indicating a high potential for abuse and no accepted medical use. Capito says the law is life-saving legislation…
“The penalties are much higher. There is more stricter enforcement around it and also the lookalikes because people are going one-offs from Fentanyl and creating other types of drugs. And it will help with our law enforcement as well.”
