City of Cumberland is currently in the process of reviewing and updating its Comprehensive Plan. This is a vital document that guides public policy and planning decisions. Required by the State of Maryland to be updated every 10 years, this plan is developed with input from city staff, a citizen advisory committee, and most importantly, the public. The updated Comprehensive Plan will address a wide range of and once adopted, this long-range blueprint will guide decisions made by the Mayor and City Council and staff.
The first public outreach meeting on July 28th was well attended, but there is still opportunity to participate by filling out our online survey—available now through August 22nd. Additionally, two upcoming Public Meetings will be held at City Hall:
• August 21, 6pm – Community meeting focused on Cumberland neighborhoods: Rolling Mill, Virginia Avenue/Chapel Hill, Decatur Heights Wills (North End), Westside & Dingle/Haystack, Walsh/Humbird, Eastside/Willowbrook, Shriver/McNamee, Downtown and Johnson Heights
• August 28, 6pm – Workshop exploring topics identified during public outreach in more detail
