On May 2nd, 2025 at approximately 7:50 p.m. officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 300 block of Avirett Avenue for the report of an assault. Upon arrival officers made contact with the victim who advised that they were placed into a headlock by James Richard Hupp Jr. The officers observed injuries consistent with the victim's statement and subsequently placed Hupp under arrest. Hupp was transported to central booking where he is currently waiting for a bond review.
