Allegany County Commissioners are addressing policies after violations of the Open Meetings Act occurred in two closed session meetings from last year.  Maryland’s Meetings Compliance Board charged that advertisement for the meetings was insufficient, discussion went beyond permitted exceptions, and a closed session statement was never publicly presented.  Commissioner Dave Caporale says changes are underway to meet policy processes…

   

“The County Commissioners have acknowledged violating the Open Meetings Act with regards to the June 13th and June 11th meeting.  Since that time they have worked diligently to improve public meeting process and to update procedures to better promote open government.”
