May 30th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Maryland added 2,300 total jobs in April, according to new estimates released by the U.S. Department of Labor. Employment in the private sector and in state and local government expanded last month, but federal employment fell by an estimated 2,600 jobs, tempering the state’s overall jobs growth. Gains were had in Transportation, Warehouses, and Utilities as well as Construction and Healthcare. The Labor Department reported that Maryland’s unemployment rate increased to 3.1 percent in April.
