WCBC has learned that former Cumberland City Police Captain James Burt has been indicted by a Grand Jury. Burt was released from his duties with the Cumberland Police Depatment in May of this year. WCBC requested charging documents related to the case but can reveal that the documents pertaining to the matter have been sealed by the court, customarily for a 30-day period. Burt’s attorneys filed a motion to quash the documents and it was approved by Judge Jeffrey Getty. The Grand Jury indictment occurred on December 17th.
