Groundbreaking will take place this weekend in Winchester for Virginia’s second temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The 30,000 square foot temple will be located on Merrimans Lane in Winchester near Valley Health Medical Center. The primary purpose of temples for the Church is for member to participate in sacred ceremonies such as marriages and proxy baptisms for deceased ancestors. Virginia is home to over 100,000 Latter-day Saints in more than 210 congregations.
