October 5th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Natalie M. LaPrade Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission granted approval pending final facility inspection for the Western Maryland Licensed Grower to move to a state of the art facility in Cumberland, Maryland.

"Grow West MD is pleased to bring the operation to The Kelly Building in Cumberland and contribute not only to the health of Western Maryland patients but to the area economy,” says Susan Valois.  “We recognize the enormous contribution of the Delegation, Allegany and Garrett County Commissioners, Mayor and City Council, the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation, as well as the residents of Agricultural District 1. Everyone involved worked together to bring this project to Western Maryland, making it possible for the entire region to benefit from the Maryland Medical Cannabis Program.”

The operation will bring new life to the industrial site formerly housing the Kelly Springfield Tire Factory.  Plans for the Grow West MD’s Headquarters in Cumberland include 45,000 square feet of operational space and initial plans call for 40 employees.
