An annual fundraiser for Greenway Avenue Stadium is scheduled for the first part of August.  The Mark Manges Walk A Mile For ‘Ol Greenway memorial walk will take place on August 9, starting at 9am.  The event raises money for improvements at the stadium, originally built in the 1930s. Committee member Rock Cioni said visitors are always impressed with the stadium…

     

“Whenever there’s a new team that’s never been here before, whether they’re playing Fort Hill or Allegany, all – especially the media people up there and the coaches that are up top, they cannot believe that this is a high school stadium. And they often remark that this is going to be a tremendous experience for our kids.”

The committee hopes to address the press box on the visitor’s side of the stadium…

“That’s the last remaining major project is to replace or renovate that building, including bathrooms and the media areas upstairs.”
