On Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of Maryland Ave for the report of an assault. Upon arrival on scene, officers made contact with the alleged victim who had visible injuries to their face and extremities. It was determined that an argument turned physical and the victim had been assaulted by Brian Wade Simmons Jr, 34. As a result, Simmons was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing. At the time of his arrest, Simmons was also found to be in possession of an amount of suspected cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He was held on $1000 bond.
