Governor Wes Moore is encouraging Marylanders to take advantage of Maryland Tax Free Shopping Week, this year from Sunday, August 10 – Saturday, August 16. “Whether you’re gearing up for back-to-school season or looking to refresh your wardrobes, Maryland’s annual tax-free week is a great opportunity for families to save on clothing, shoes, and backpacks,” said Gov. Moore. “In partnership with Comptroller Lierman and the Maryland General Assembly, we’re helping Marylanders have a little extra breathing room this summer while supporting local businesses through their tax-free purchases.”
During the annual weeklong sales tax holiday, the state’s six percent sales tax is exempt on purchases less than $100 for certain clothing and footwear for both in-person and online sales. In addition, the first $40 of a backpack is also tax-exempt.
