Maryland’s workforce increased by 11,700 jobs in July, according to the monthly estimate by the U.S. Department of Labor. The increase in jobs was due to reported gains of 900 private-sector jobs and 10,800 public-sector jobs. Maryland’s federal workforce saw a further decline of 500 jobs in July. The state’s unemployment rate increased to 3.4% – one tenth of a percent over June.
