The City of Cumberland saw little problems during recent flooding, but the Mason Sports Complex in South Cumberland suffered extensive damage. City Administrator Jeff Silka says fencing washed away, and the infields flooded, including the ones that they just refreshed last year…
“It’s probably going to be closed probably until the fourth of July is what we’re looking for because it’s super fertilized because of the river mud that’s in there. So the grass is going to be growing but we can’t cut it because we can’t put machines on it. So, it’s basically going to be a hayfield, and again if we put people on it when it’s wet it’s just going to damage it and we’ll have to take it out for the seasons.”
