The Frostburg State Men's Lacrosse team cruised over District of Columbia with a final score of 30-3 on Saturday afternoon.

FSU set the tone early, scoring their first goal just two minutes into the game on a shot from senior Jake Bowman, who received the pass from senior Justin Hulse.  The Bobcats paced themselves to score five more unanswered goals in the next six and a half minutes.  Senior Owen McCallum found the back of the net on an assist from junior Austin Sipes, followed by a goal from Hulse, who scored on a pass from senior Bubba Love.  Love tallied his second assist of the day, feeding junior Parker Masters at the 7:24 mark for a 4-0 lead.  Sipes was then credited for his first goal of the day on an assist from Masters, followed by Bowman's second goal of the day, off another assist from Love.  The Firebirds were able to get on the board at the 6:34 mark to bring the score to 6-1, before FSU tallied on five more goals from Sipes, Bowman, junior Tyler Dooley, and two from Love, to lead 11-1 after the first period.

Bowman recorded two more goals to open the second to bring his total to five in the first half.  FSU continued their powerhouse offensive momentum, tacking on four straight goals, allowing Sipes to secure a hat trick, McCallum and Dooley to get their second, and redshirt senior Tanner Donaldson to get his first.  UDC found the back of the net with 2:46 left in the half to bring the score to 17-2, but the Bobcats didn't let up, scoring two more goals as McCallum recorded a hat trick and junior Will Hollingsworth knotted his first of the day, leaving Frostburg with a dominant 19-2 lead at the break.

FSU didn't back down in the second half as they continued to share the ball, getting even more Bobcats in on the scoring action.  Sophomore Blaine Karotko and junior Cole Blanche knotted their first goals of the day, with senior Chase Buckwalter and junior Brady Crumbacker being credited with the assists.  Senior Rob Tarver scored his first goal at the 7:31 mark, followed by Dooley securing another Bobcat hat trick, scoring the next two goals.  Freshman Shaun Gillispie ended the third quarter with his first goal of the day, allowing the Bobcats to lead 25-2 heading into the fourth.

Senior Matt Begley knotted his first goal of the game just 12 seconds into the fourth and final quarter, as sophomore Drew Mullineaux recorded his first goal as well, just a minute and a half later with assists going to sophomore Tristan Anderson and Gillispie.  Tarver and Crumbacker each recorded their second goals off assists from sophomore Ryan Tyler and Begley to bring the score to 29-2.  Tarver was the fifth Bobcat to record a hat trick, scoring his third with 3:44 left in the game.  The Firebirds were able to find the back of the net one more time to end the game with a final score of 30-3.

The 30 goals scored are the third-most in program history, as with 16 Bobcats scoring on the day, Bowman led the way with five and Dooley tallied four, while Sipes, McCallum, and Tarver all finished with three.  Sipes led the way in assists with four, while Love was credited with three.  A trio of goalies all saw time in goal, with graduate Mitch Meckley and freshman Aidan Pierce finishing with four saves apiece and sophomore Nate Jones tallying two.

With the win, Frostburg wins their eighth straight to go 8-0 on the season, while District of Columbia drops to 0-5.  FSU will remain on the road to face Seton Hill (Pa.) on Tuesday, March 28 for a game time of 4 PM.  For more information and updates, lease visit frostburgsports.com.
