Allegany County Public Schools Superintendent of Schools Michael J. Martirano, Ed.D. announced today that Danny Carter, principal of Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg, has shared his decision to retire. His last day as principal is November 26.
“We wish to thank Mr. Carter for his 46 years of dedicated service to the students of Mountain Ridge, Braddock Middle, Fort Hill, and Flintstone schools. Mr. Carter is a graduate of the school system he served,” said Martirano. “We wish him all the best as he enters retirement”
Martirano has appointed Kendra Kenney, Ed.D., as the incoming principal of Mountain Ridge High School. Kenney will begin her new role on December 1, leaving her position as the ACPS Supervisor of Special Education.
Kenney began her Allegany County Public Schools career as a special education specialist in 1996. She previously served as Washington Middle School’s principal and assistant principal and an assistant principal at Fort Hill. Kenney holds graduate degrees from Frostburg State University, including a doctorate degree in educational leadership, a master’s degree in reading, and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision.
Martirano said, “I am positive and optimistic about the future of Mountain Ridge High School. I believe deeply in Dr. Kenney’s ability to make Mountain Ridge the very best high school that it can be,” Martirano said.
The Superintendent will host a Community Meet & Greet with Dr. Kendra Kenney from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, for Mountain Ridge families in the cafeteria.
