Museum Announces Closure

August 8th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

One of the area’s newest history museums has decided to close its doors. The Wills Creek Museum, located at 28 Washington Street has announced that it will close its doors some time after the annual Heritage Days Festival in September.  Barbara Crane with Emmanuel Episcopal Church that oversees the museum said that sudden staffing changes along with other issues forced the decision…

“That, coupled with the current grant environment made it just financially not feasible to continue on. We were getting ready to start phase two of the museum which was going to involve some construction and development and that was serious dollars.”

Crane said the museum’s exhibits will not be lost to history…

“We’ll lend some of that to other heritage tourism partners in the community. Some of that information, the informational panel will likely be hung in the church so that stuff is not going away.”
