While the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority continues work on the new River Park development, WCBC spoke with Brent Walls, Potomac River Riverkeeper, regarding the project.  Walls says when it comes to removing the dam beneath the West Virginia/Maryland blue bridge, there are several benefits, including the access it will give to the river…

   

“Now, a lot of people at this moment in time probably may not want to access the river especially shortly after a rain event because of the CSO discharges that are there.  So that’s the other factor of this project is that they have plans to reroute the discharge so that it’s not discharging there and funneling that to the storage system that Cumberland has put into place.”
