Friday afternoon’s thunderstorms caused a number of electrical failures in the community. Downed trees and electrical lines kept fire crews and Potomac Edison linemen responding to over 2,000 reports of power outages. A large number of those residents without power live in the North End of Cumberland. Power was restored just before 3 a.m. Saturday morning. WCBC's transmitter site on Wills Mountain was one of those affected by the electrical failure. Transmission and distribution crews remain out restoring power to 160 residents and businesses throughout Allegany County today.
