June 22nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Lottery and Gaming this week  announced that May gaming revenues for the state’s six casinos were $152.3 million.

The total represents a $4.2 million decrease compared to the May 2018 total.

Contributions to the state of Maryland from May casino gaming revenue totaled $63.6 million, including $47.7 million for the Education Trust Fund. Casino gaming revenues also support local communities and jurisdictions where the six casinos are located, as well as Maryland’s horse racing industry.

“As Maryland’s casinos reach full development of their respective markets, we will begin to see more volatility in month-over-month results …,” said Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medenica. “We fully expect long-term growth to continue to be positive.”

Maryland has six privately owned casinos that offer both slot machines and table games: MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County; Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County; Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City; Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County; Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County; and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County.
